I was at Silver Lake on St. Simons Island, Georgia, photographing some Hooded Mergansers when this Great Blue Heron came swooping in, circled the small lake as if surveying the perfect spot, and finally landed on a log in a secluded corner of the lake. It was quite a sight to see this big bird come in for a landing.
