Seagulls are always prevalent anytime you are anywhere around the ocean, and the St. Simons pier area is no exception. In this one photo I was able to capture two different kinds of seagulls. A variety of them had gathered on the top of the roof that covers part of the pier. I walked around and looked at the groups of gulls from different angles, and, finally, this particular composition revealed itself to me. The large bird in the background of the photo is a Great Black-backed Gull, and the three smaller ones in the foreground on the right side of the photo are Ring-billed Gulls. Being patient while trying to compose a picture can often provide you with a far more interesting image than just a standard shot of your subject.
