See how much more brightly red the Purple Finch is than the House Finch. The male Purple Finch displays all that raspberry color on his head, back, throat, and chest. Pretty little bird! I actually didn’t take this photo in my backyard, but rather in the yard of my friends in New Hampshire on my last visit there. Purple Finches are common in the East, North, and Pacific Coast areas. No matter where you live, colorful birds can come to your yard, too, if you provide food and water.
