The beautiful Marshes of Glynn surround the area where I live. The marshes are home to millions of living organisms and are a vibrant and necessary ecosystem. This photo was taken from the Hampton Marina on the north end of St. Simons Island, Georgia. The lush, green marsh grasses, and the creeks that run through them, greatly inspired 19th century Georgia poet, Sidney Lanier, on a visit to Glynn County. He penned a tribute to its unforgettable beauty in his poem, “The Marshes of Glynn”.
