Who doesn’t love the beautiful, bright red feathers of the male Northern Cardinal? It is a favorite and will stand out nicely in your yard. I see cardinals all year-round at my house and love their colors, prominent crests, and conical reddish bills. They are probably the easiest of all the birds to identify. They have a black mask and throat and a long tail as you can see in this photo. They tend to do very well with bird feeders, so put some out in your yard if you can.
