Least Terns are the smallest of the American Terns and are notable for their white foreheads and slightly forked tails. They will hover in air over the water and then dive to catch small fish, crustaceans, or insects near the surface. The Least Tern is one of about seventeen different kinds of terns in North America, and this particular seabird was photographed at Gould’s Inlet on St. Simons Island.
