Laughing Gulls stand out from the crowd with their black heads and red bills. You can see them year-round on St. Simons Island and other places in the coastal southeast and Gulf of Mexico. I took this close-up on the fishing pier at Gascoigne Bluff to demonstrate its distinctive features. The Laughing Gull gets its name from its strident call which many say sounds like a laugh. It is a beauty among seagulls and is present everywhere on the island.
