Blue Jays are known for their intelligence, and the one in this photo certainly looks very smart to me. They are very adaptable birds and will eat almost anything. Their particular taste for acorns, however, has been credited with spreading the growth of oak forests. Blue Jays will often bury acorns in the ground to retrieve later. When the acorns get left behind, a mighty oak can be the result. This photo gives you a good look at the Blue Jay’s black “necklace”, one of many distinguishing features.
