This House Finch back view provides a glimpse of the bird’s brown streaked back, wings, and flanks. Notice the red near the tail which is more visible in flight. House Finches sing a cheerful song and are basically vegetarians, eating mostly seeds and berries. During courtship and incubation of their young, the male House Finch will feed the female. Both parents tend to their nestlings.
