I generally get one of two reactions when people see this photo of the eye of the pelican. They either find it startling and a little off-putting, or they think it is really cool. Brown pelicans have very intense eyes. If eyes are the windows to the soul, I can tell you that pelicans must have a lot going on behind theirs. So, which are you? Do you find this photo disconcerting or fascinating? Or maybe both!
