What do you think? Is this an egret or a heron? Looking at this photo it would be easy to assume that this large white bird is an egret. But that would be wrong. This is actually a photo of a Blue Heron. How can that be, you may ask? It turns out that Blue Herons are white in their first year of life. If you look closely, you can see the grayish-blue coloring on top of its head and on its bill starting to come in. The greenish legs are another way to identify these juvenile Blue Herons.
