Photo taken at the Village-Pier on St. Simons Island
The Double-crested Cormorant is another large bird that I always see in the pier area on St. Simons Island. There are several wooden posts sticking up out of the water just off the pier, and these posts seem to be a favorite meeting place for cormorants. Apparently, they like to hang out there. This photo was taken at dusk as the cormorant was standing on one of the posts drying its wings. Handsome bird, isn’t it?
