What a sweet little Chipping Sparrow. “Chippy” , as it is known, is very widespread throughout North America. It is easily identifiable with its rusty, reddish cap and black eye streak. Its wings and back are brown with black streaks. It is grayish underneath and has a pinkish bill. The Chipping Sparrow is a small bird, only about 41/2 to 51/2 inches in length, but its song is strong and crisp. Chipping Sparrows often form into flocks, and they are considered to be fairly tame birds.
