The southern Carolina Chickadee is nearly the spitting image of its more northerly cousin, the Black-capped Chickadee. They will sometimes interbreed when their ranges overlap, so it is difficult to tell them apart on appearance alone. They can best be distinguished by their songs and a slight difference in their sizes. A relative of the Titmouse, the Carolina Chickadee is a curious, lively, and acrobatic little bird. It has shown itself to be tame and friendly.
