I caught this female Northern Cardinal stretching on my back fence early one morning, and it has become one of my favorite photos. It looked like she had just woken up. She was fanning her tail feathers, and, apparently, getting ready for the day. I love her expression. Birds can display so much personality. Hopefully, you’ll be able to take a photo of them at just the right moment. Cardinals do not migrate, so once they start showing up in your yard you can count on seeing them on a regular basis.
