As you can see from this photo, the adult Canada Goose is a big, robust bird. It has a long black neck with a white chinstrap. Its upper body is brown with a black tail and white beneath. Geese communicate using many different sounds, but you may be familiar with their usual “honk”. This particular Canada Goose was photographed on Pickerel Pond in Laconia, New Hampshire, where several pairs were nesting and raising their young.
