Brown Pelican sitting on the pier on St. Simons Island
In this photo I wanted to get a close-up look at the pelican’s bill. I positioned the head of the pelican to the left of the frame so the bill would run from the center to the right of the photo.
How might you have photographed this pelican if you came upon it sitting on the pier? What angle would you have taken? How close-up do you want to get on the pelican’s face? Do you want a full-body shot? These are all options to think about when approaching your subject. I take many different photos using all of these possibilities. Remember, you are the photographer. What image do you want to create?
