Blue Crabs, also called Swimming Crabs, are frequently caught by crabbers at the pier on St. Simons Island. The crabbers will put raw chicken or shrimp in a basket and lower it over the side of the pier. One crabber had gathered a bucket load of blue crabs and let me take this photo. It takes a while to catch enough to make a meal, but crabbers say it is well worth the time and effort. Blue Crabs have an oval-shaped shell and their last pair of legs are shaped like paddles. The natural world certainly is fascinating!
