Photo of St. Simons Island Pier
The Pier Village and Neptune Park are located on the south end of St. Simons Island. There is a lovely walkway along the ocean leading from the pier through Neptune Park and down to the lighthouse. Wildlife is abundant in this area. I have photographed Brown Pelicans, Double-crested Cormorants, a variety of seagulls, Common Grackles, and Blue Crabs among others. I never have a problem finding plenty of subjects to photograph here. If you are very lucky, you may also see dolphins swimming through St. Simons Sound in this location.
I would like to show you some of the photos I’ve taken in this area, what I was looking for in the shot, and the composition I was trying to create. I’ll also pass along some information about each bird or animal highlighted. First up is the Brown Pelican.
