This Tricolored Heron looks like it is ready to strike.  The Tricolored Heron’s favorite food is fish.  It will carefully stalk them and then strike suddenly with its long dagger-like bill.  A pretty bird sporting gray, white, blue and lavender coloring, the Tricolored Heron can often be spotted in coastal estuaries.  This photo was taken at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge located on the space coast of Florida.
